• The lack of adequate parks and recreational space greatly reduces the amount of social activities available for people in these areas.
• There are low levels of biodiversity in these areas, thus limiting the ability for different species of birds and animals to thrive there.
• Open spaces that are not properly landscaped and maintained are prone to erosion as well as other environmental and social hazards such as crime and health dangers.This also causes underutilisation.
