THURSDAY, 26 JUNE 2008: “The Department of Environmental Affairs & Tourism welcomes the appointment of Mrs. Nosipho Jezile-Ngcaba as the new Director General for the Department,” said Marthinus van Schalkwyk, Minister of Environmental Affairs & Tourism in reaction to the announcement made by Cabinet on Wednesday.

“Mrs Jezile-Ngcaba is a driven and capable manager. She has been with our Department since 2003, firstly as Chief Director for Social Responsibility & Projects and then as Chief Operating Officer since 2005. She has also served in the capacity of  Acting Director General since March this year. Mrs Jezile-Ngcaba has truly risen through the ranks of our department and consequently has a wealth of experience and insight in this portfolio. This experience, combined with her own extensive skills and knowledge, makes Nosipho almost uniquely suited to the position of Director General, and I have no doubt that her service in this new position will carry our Department to new heights. I look forward to continue working with her.”

Mrs. Jezile-Ngcaba holds a BSC degree (Majors: Biochemistry and physiology) and a Higher Diploma in Education (Physical Science and Maths) from the University of the Western Cape (UWC).
